A month ago, Friday’s Bombers vs. Stamps game was being heralded as a first place showdown.  Winner to take all and host the West final.  Fast forward 4 weeks and Calgary enters the game with a lock on first place but coming off of a two game losing streak.  The Bombers? Well, 3 losses in their last 4 games leave them still looking to gain a home play off date.  What’s worse, the Bombers have lost their starting QB, one of their top defensive players and their top receiver to injury.  So it’s a banged up Bomber team against a home and cooled out Stamps team that are starting their back up QB.  The possible outcome? Considering the game will be played in a frozen and snow filled McMann stadium, it’s got the potential to be a real dud.  Anyone who watched last week’s fiasco in Winnipeg when QB#2 and QB#3 tried to replace Nichols will quickly draw the conclusion that the Bombers are going to have to back into a home playoff date.

Pick Calgary over Winnipeg in a low scoring, sloppy, weather driven game.

Elsewhere

Hamilton will put the Alouettes miserable season to rest

Toronto will gain 1st in the East with a win over BC

and

Sask will stay in the West and do the Bombers a favour with a win over the Eskimos thereby allowing Winnipeg to back into a home playoff game with a second place finish.  Winnipeg will host Sask in the West semi-final.

Enjoy the weekend.

FYI: The Corbett report is channeling the Bombers going 1-3 in last week.
