I thought it fitting to start this weeks predictions with last weeks opening song. It really does set the stage for the Eastern Semi-final prediction

Opening Song

Against all odds (by Phil Collins)

How can I be here to watch you play – just see you lose without much grace?
When I sit here holding every breath for Blue, oooo
They’re the only team who ever moved me at all

How can you just play this way for me and all I can do is cry and grieve?

'cause we've shared the laughter and the pain, and even shared the tears
They're the only team who ever moved me at all

So, take a look at Blue now – they could be in fourth place
And there’s nothing left here to remind me – of the victories in this place
So, take a look at Blue now – they could be in fourth place
And Blue coming here to play is against the odds but that's what I've got to face
I wish I could just turn this year around – turn around and see them fly

But so much this year has troubled Blue– so many reasons whyThey're the only team who ever moved me at all

So, take a look at Blue now – they could be in fourth place

And there’s nothing left here to remind me – of the victories in this place
Now, take a look at Blue now – they could be in fourth place
But to wait for Blue is all I can do and that's what I've got to face
Take a good look at Blue now 'cause I'll still be cheering here
But they’re coming back this year is against all odds – but the chance I’ve got to take
Take a look at Blue, now

Western Semi-final prediction

This years Western Semi sees the Stampeders travelling to Vancouver to face the Lions. Last year the Lions traveled to Regina and lost 28-19 to the Riders. Lions on that day were lead by Vernon Adams who coincidentally leads the Stamps into the Lions Den this year! Last year Adams threw 3 interceptions in the semi final, a major contributing factor to the Lions loss. A story book plot for this years game would see Adams get revenge for his unceremonious departure from the Lions in the off season and lead the Stamps to victory against the Lions. I don’t think it’ll happen though. The Lions beat Calgary in both of their games this year and outscored them 90-47. I expect Nathan Rourke to finally come through in a big game and lead the Lions to a victory.

BC 32 Calgary 14

Eastern Final Predictions

So for the first time ever the Bombers are a crossover team, crossing over to the East to play the Alouettes in the Semi-final. A story book ending to this season for the Bombers would see a win over the Alouettes, a win over the Ti-Cats and then see them facing the Riders in the Grey Cup. I’d like to see it but unfortunately I won’t Why??? Why not us??? (As the Bombers have been saying all week). Well, it really comes down to Davis Alexander. In spite of only playing in 8 games this year he completed 10 TD Passes to only 3 interceptions. Contrast that to the Bombers starting QB, Zach Collaros. Zach played in 13 games and completed 17 TD Passes. The big difference though, he also threw 16 interceptions. That ratio of TDs to Interception would have to change significantly today if the Bombers are going to have a hope to write that story book ending. I’m afraid it’s not going to happen.

Alouettes 36 Bombers 28

FYI. The Corbett Report this year finished 50-31 overall and 10-8 in Bomber games.

Have a great weekend!
