Greetings from Winnipeg. Now that the pesky Grey Cup festival part of the weekend is over it’s time to actually, play some football.
Here are today’s keys to the game:
For Montreal to Win
It all comes down to how healthy Davis Alexander is. If his injured hamstring is healed enough to get him through the game AND allows him to scramble the way he does, then the Alouettes have a decent chance. Otherwise, not so much. So Key #1 to a Montreal victory: Keep Alexander in the game
Key #2: Montreal needs to get a big play TD from either their defence or their special teams. 7 points on the board that doesn’t come from their offence could be the turning point.
Key#3: Pressure Trevor Harris. Riders will eat you alive if they’re allowed to execute their short yardage game.
For Saskatchewan to win
Winning the big game comes often comes down to one or two plays. So Key #1 for Saskatchewan to win is that they need to hit one big pass play for a TD.
Key #2: Contain Davis Alexander. A sack or two be helpful. Alexander is a tough guy to contain but the Riders will need to have some success doing it if they’re going to win.
Key #3: (Couldn’t resist). Learn to count! The last time the Riders were in the Grey Cup they lost on a last second field goal against Montreal. If you recall Montreal missed their first attempt at the field goal but the Riders got called for too many men on the field which gave Montreal a second chance.
There you have it. Looks like a great day for football. Be sure and tune in to watch the Riders defeat Montreal 33 – 30.
